FMC Tower Expands Central Philadelphia To University City
The FMC Tower at Cira Centre South is Philadelphia’s first “vertical neighborhood” totaling 862,000 square feet at 47 stories high and is located at 2929 Walnut Street in University City. The LEED certified, mixed-use Tower is a part of a three-building development project named “Cira Centre South” which includes a 33-story residential building named Evo and a 1.25-acre elevated public park named Cira Green. The first-ever elevated park in Philadelphia sits 95 feet above street level in between Evo and the FMC Tower. With consideration to it’s influence and location in University City, the 730-foot skyscraper will ultimately expand the center city area and change the skyline of Philadelphia forever.
The University of Pennsylvania will be a main tenant, occupying about 100,000 square feet with a 20-year lease. Penn owns the ground that the FMC Tower erects from and has been involved with the project from day one. The FMC Tower was developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, engineered and designed by Pelli Clark Pelli Architects with public spaces and interiors by by Piero Lissoni Associati.
